Alan was admitted to the Maine bar in 1978 and began a one-year clerkship for Maine Supreme Judicial Court Justice James P. Archibald that same year. From 1979 to 1988, Alan served as an Assistant District Attorney while working part-time with his father, Floyd L. Harding. From 1988 to the present, he has worked exclusively as a private attorney engaged in a general practice of law at Hardings Law Offices
in Presque Isle.
Associations
Alan has served as a governor of the Maine State Bar Association and Maine Trial Lawyers Association, and is a past president of the Aroostook Bar Association. He has twice served as a member and chair of Maine's Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices.
Since 1983, Alan has been a member of the Presque Isle Kiwanis Club, of which he was president from 1989 to 1990. He is now the longest-tenured member of that service organization. Presently, Alan is the Esteemed Loyal Knight of the Presque Isle Elks Lodge, and has been a member for more than 32 years. Alan is also a member of the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce and the Presque Isle Fish and Game Club.
Our Office
Floyd L. Harding relocated to Presque Isle, Maine, in 1949 in order to work for the local farmer's cooperative as its assistant general counsel. He established Hardings Law Offices in 1952, and though it has grown in size, it has remained at the same location in Presque Isle since it was first established. Alan Harding joined his father in the practice of law in 1979 and became the owner of Hardings Law Offices in 1993. Floyd Harding died in April, 2017.
